The Batu Caves are just outside of KL. The stairs leading up to the shrines have 272 steps. In todays 90 % humidity and 85 degrees, I felt every one of them. As you can see the climb is worth the effort.
There is a cathedral second cave inside, with a number of shrines dotted around the walls. Devotees were doing what devotees do whilst tourists like myself sweated and snapped away.
The surreal moment of the day came when my Blackberry went off from a friend in the US.....
There are dozens of monkeys running around, trying to steal food offerings from the shrines, so many in fact that I have a folder of Batu monkey pics! Here are a couple to give you an idea.
I'm happy to report you can get a cup of coffee here, and its not Starbucks.
I'm completely out of time and have to dash to the airport for a 2 am flight to Dubai. I just realised that this post features a few more pics of yours truly than usual. Kelvin from our office here drove me around all day and insisted on clicking away.....a bit self indulgent, but there you go......
Hope this finds everyone feeling positive about their weekend!

Thank you for sharing your trips. Your descriptions and observations of each place are great. I have enjoyed reading each entry of this trip to Asia, and has made me want to go see that world that seems so far away from us, and that is absolutely different from anything I have seen in my life so far.
Thanks!
Your travelogue has been great. I am sorry it has come to an end. You have captured the atmosphere of each place without being too subjective. I look forward to the future trips.
Thanks everyone...I wish I had an idea who you all are!
The trip isn't over though. I'm in Dubai until Tuesday night late ....Sunday is a working day there so the overnight flight now is all the sleep I'm going to get....Next week I'm in Oslo....talk about contrasts!!!!!!

Yo Terry,
The pictures are amazing! Almost as breathtaking as our Grand Canyon. We never see so much greenery in the Southwest! Bravo!
