Pics from Bangkok

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I took a longtail boat on the river and had a ride around the canals branching off the river. The main tourist temples were closed on Saturday as the royal family were praying privately and giving thanks for the king's 60 years of rule. They really love the king in Thailand.
The riverboat ride was interesting as it wasn't really a touristy excursion. It took about an hour and circled through the side canals off the main river, passing houses and hovels right at the water's edge. It gave a glimpse into peoples lives I think.

Blogger is up to its old tricks and limiting my pictures, so I'll sign off here. I'll post a few more once the cybergods are in better humour.

I've arrived in the middle of a heat wave in the UK and the forecast is temps the mid 80s over the next few days. I don't have aircon, so its likely I'll be more bothered by the heat here than in Asia! My back seems to have settled into a dull rumble rather than the deafening roar of a week back so I guess I can't complain too much. I'll take heat over pain anyday!

I'm on holiday from Wednesday and don't think I'll be updating much over the next couple of weeks as I want to avoid the laptop and siren call to work that it always seems to entail.

Love to all

T
