Brooklyn

This weekend I was back in Brooklyn. It seems that "NYC" has meant Brooklyn over the past 4 years or so. I did get over to Manhattan and walked familar routes in the village and lower east side.
Walking across the Williamsburg bridge
Katz deli
Tompkin Park
Hudson Bar and Books (one of the few places you can still smoke in NYC)

Some old ghosts were in evidence but for the most part it was a nice weekend , new friends and lots of booze.
Williamsburg is a place I've heard a bit about over the past couple of years and I have to confess that it seems a bit disjointed to me. Its a combination of industrial buildings and converted tenaments. Cool spaces and killer price tags to match.
I went to a really cool bar called East River in South Williamsburg. Really nice people and when Ii was there at least, bands playing at 11 on the volume dial. The hipster element was very much in evidence late on, but I was usually heading out by then.

I met a really cool person this weekend. She's smart, fun, successful and has her shit together. So I have some food for thought at the moment.

Tomorrow afternoon I fly to Madrid for 24 hours.......and so it begins again

Hope all is well with you
