Bondi Beach

I finally got to Bondi Beach today. The weather was hot, but I slapped on the sunscreen and avoided a burn. Ever since I arrived in Australia I've been barraged with messages about skin cancer. You can't buy anything less than factor 30 and most people cover up and avoid the sun, except at Bondi. At one end of the beach sits the "Bondi Icebergs Club". It was started as a winter fitness club for lifesavers and features an open saltwater pool.
It's open to the public, and for a small fee $1 to watch and $4.50 to swim is pretty much open to all.
Reasonable right?
Well NOT if you have a camera!
To take pictures of the beach and surfers from their observation deck, I was told I would have to pay $500 an hour!!!!!
WTF?????
Ahhhh, no thanks.
I still got some great pics of the surfers and will post them separately.

The famous Bondi Beach life savers rescue young and old, big and small.
Facing the beach are a number of murals commemorating the WW I battle at Anzac, the Bali bombings in Indonesia and the importance of safe sex. The bombings touched many lives in Australia as Bali is a common holiday destination for youngsters. The equivalent in the US would be an attack on Daytona Beach during spring break.
That's it for now. I've got some cool surfing pics to post and I'll do it as and when.
Love to all.

They should be charging you more than $500 for subjecting us (the innocent readers of your blog)to the picture of the young lady basking in the shallows. Bit on the cruel side Terry! consider yourself on detention.

Cruel?
Naww that elderly lady (not young) was enjoying the cool waters and respite from the sun. I took the picture because she'd been knocked off her feet by a wave after pestering me with questions about surfing. I tried to tell her I knew nothing about surfing, but she was having none of it. I was annoyed ( in a smiley way) because turning my head to answer a question from her I got soaked from head to foot from an errant wave which engulfed the rock I was perched on...so there!
AND I thought the pic is a bit funny.....in the nicest possible way of course.

Moral of the story is don't talk to strangers or you could find your wobbly bits posted on a blog for the world to see! It seems that errant waves issued you your deserved punishment.
