NYC

Well I'm here again.
Last night I had a blast and went out for food and music.
First stop was "A" on Columbus between 105th & 106th.
It's a tiny little place with about 6 tables serving "organic" grub, which I pushed around my plate.
The food was good, I just wasn't hungry.
I had to wait outside for a while as you can't sit down until everyone is there and the person I was meeting was late. It's not a terrible neighbourhood, but not great either. There was lots of "eyeballing" going on and it all felt a bit like being a fat tuna circled by sharks (albeit teetering messed up sharks) . I wasn't nervous just getting irritated by it all.
Next I went to SMOKE on Broadway and watched a rather worthy jazz session in a "listening room" (that means "no talking, groove on the vibe you hipster you")
Actually it was quite friendly if only a little too self serious and popular (lineups and clipboards). All in all the night was great fun in terrific (actually stupendous) company.....discretion is the better part of valor so that's all I'm going to say about that.

I spent the morning doing the usual walk around on 5th and bought the obligatory Brooks Brothers shirts. I have a closet full of them, but always buy a couple more when I'm here. A pretty harmless compulsion as compulsions go I suppose, though rather bourgeois.

(I've always wanted to say bourgeois in a post!).

I'm off to chow down another artery closing sandwich at Katz's deli then meeting my old pal George to shoot pool and drink beer.
Hope your weekend is going well
