I find myself stuck in Columbia.
Because of a diplomatic tiff between Columbia and Brazil, anyone spending more than 24 hours in Columbia needs to produce proof of yellow fever inoculation.
I've been immunized but don't have the certificate with me.
I was denied boarding to Brazil
Plans to fly to Miami and then divert back to Rio were scuttled when I realised that having been outside of Columbia for less than 24 hours, I would likely face the same situation in Panama which is the only route available.
Being stuck in Panama city isn't much better than Bogota.
Its a holiday weekend in Columbia so its almost impossible to find anyone working at the airlines to help me out.
The law changed June 1st.
I'm seriously pissed off.
It looks like I'll fly back to the UK via Madrid tonight but that little scenario may encounter as yet unknown roadblocks.
Bogota feels a lot heavier than Medellin. From the window of the taxi I saw soldiers searching people spread eagled against a wall, guns at the ready.
I hope everyone is having a better weekend than I am.

Hey Terry -
Sorry to hear you had a difficult time with your travels. I was not aware of the "yellow fever" inoculation requierments. I have visited Medellin twice this year and plan on returning soon.
I loved your pics of Mangos. It definitely is a strange place. I did not spend too much time there because it was too CROWED the night I went.
Check out the site I've been working on http://www.medellintraveler.com
I love the Paisas. They made me feel like I was family.
Hey thanks for the visit!
Cool site!
I'll check back from time to time to see how the progress.
