I took a picture of a woman on the waterfront in Beirut and have been hooked on taking pictures ever since. The original snap was on a very crappy Olympus camera and ever since I've been burning through cash and trying to do a little better every time. It seems the better the equipment, the more unforgiving my eye is becoming. The point of all this is that I just spent £1300 on TWO lenses. .....That's exactly DOUBLE what I paid for my camera.
I bought them online and saved £400.
I had a £10 pizza to celebrate my birthday....so what the hell. But still.
Manya, I can hear you sighing 10,000 miles away.
Sorry.
All of your advice went out the window when I read the reviews...........
Here's the pic that made me think I could take pics. If you want to see it in all its glory just click on it.
The hint of skin around the sad wrist is particularly poignant in my humble opinion:

What the hell were these people thinking???????

A life of " You want fries with that?" beckons them both.
Love to you all.

it's not the size of your lens - its what u do with it.
you'd have been better off spending that money on a photography class!
Dear me.
My public is sooooo cruel
Wow - you go away for a week and come back to find daggers being sharpened and claws at the ready.
Terry spend your hard earned on what the heck you like. But we are expecting some SUPERIOR pics from the all singing all dancing lens (oooh sorry lenses).
be who you are and stop looking for approval from others...frivolous or not. not to long ago ago you worried that you weren't paying attention to people in extreme poverty and now you wonder on purchasing a 1300 pound lens -- you ponder the ridiculousness. we all suffer from the same short term memory. it's not an attack on you , just a reminder...
I love that photograph of the Lebanese woman. That and the one of the deer's face on a plate. You never did tell me if you nibbled... even a little?
Couldn't resist commenting your rather large equipment looks very impressive!
Here are a few tips on how best to handle it;
Grip the base firmly but gently and slide the into the slot opening. I tend to grab the base if I’m in a hurry, but just remember equipment of this caliber is delicate.
Once inside, use a screwing action starting slowly, rapidly increasing the motion - this in particular requires skill, however, practice makes perfect.
I'm sure many of your blog readers will be satisfied with the results.
Above all, have fun playing with your equipment. OK?
And if you require help, use both hands ...
Well, its 6 am in Dubai on a morning long after this particular post went up, but the comment came in the past 12 hours.
Thanks!
It made me laugh my ass off as I ate yet another hotel club sandwhich!
I have to eat whilst the sun is still below the horizon as its ramadan and I won't get another bite for 12 hours or so.
Thanks again.....funny
